Northern Alberta, the Town of Manning and the County of Northern Lights received great news on February 6th, 2020!
As stated in the CMHC Press Release; "The governments of Canada and Alberta are developing new affordable seniors housing for Albertans in Oyen, Spirit River and Manning, with a $37 million capital investment to build 173 new lodge and continuing care spaces. These projects will create about 267 jobs.
The lodge partnership projects are a collaboration between Alberta Seniors and Housing and Alberta Health – combining seniors lodge and continuing care units in the same facility for a flexible range of care.
All projects are currently in the planning phase. Regional housing management bodies, Acadia Foundation, Grande Spirit Foundation and North Peace Housing Foundation will operate the facilities."
The event pictured above was held, at the Del-Air Lodge in Manning on the 7th, to announce the approval of the redevelopment of the Lodge which will accommodate 16 designated supportive living and 37 lodge spaces, providing a higher level of care greatly improving the ability of Seniors in the region to age in their community.
Attending the event, in the company of residents and staff of the Del-Air Lodge, were local MLA Dan Williams, Mayor Greg Rycroft from the Town of Manning, Reeve Terry Ungarian from the County of Northern Lights, Board Members Ray Skrepnek, Brent Reese, Hazel Reintjes (Chair), Cheryl Novak, Sandra Eastman (Vice Chair) and Dan Boisvert, along with staff from the NPHF Central Office (not pictured).
The North Peace Housing Foundation would like to express its sincere thanks to The Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, The Honourable Josephine Pon, Minister of Seniors and Housing and he Honourable Tyler Shandro, Minister of Health and the local Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Peace River, Dan Williams, for working together to provide such an appreciated and needed benefit to our seniors.
