In October of 2019, it was announced that, as part of the government’s commitment to support aging in community, $8.2 million was approved toward the redevelopment of the Del-Air Lodge in Manning, to accommodate 16 designated supportive living units. This was a joint investment from the Provincial and Federal Government.
Design for the Province’s new DSL wing continues to advance towards construction kick-off later this spring. JMAA Architecture and Chandos Construction Ltd. were the successful proponents of the project.
The development permit for this facility has been approved by the Town of Manning and an image of the proposed facility is available for viewing on the project website www.nphf.ca. Updates and photos will be published on the website as the project advances.
Pre-construction work is anticipated to start in the upcoming weeks.
Tammy Menssa, North Peace Housing Foundation Executive Director says, “In addition to the existing 52-unit facility, the Foundation will manage the new DSL wing of the Del-Air Lodge in partnership with Alberta Health Services, who will provide nursing and home care services. Offering multiple levels of housing and health care in one site allows seniors to age in place and in community. Individuals requiring higher levels of care will no longer have to look outside their region and leave their families and support networks in order to find the care that they need and deserve.
